Hi Everyone!
HAPPY JUNE!!! This is it! The month we move. First we are driving from Amarillo to California where we will visit family and friends and then June 23rd get on a plane to Australia! After all of the prayers, planning, and preparations, the time has finally come for us to say goodbye to so many loved ones. I never expected that in less than 5 years I would have been blessed with such an amazing and supportive family as all the many people I have met during my time living in Amarillo. A city I had only known from a country song, is now a place that will forever live in my heart. I understand now why so many of Paul’s letters in the Bible are full of wishes to visit the churches he is writing to. I am super grateful for all our modern ways of communication so that I can keep in touch with loved ones in different time zones. I will miss so many people and through the missing I have grown a longing for heaven: A place without any good-byes but where we are all fellowshipping together with Christ. Oh how I long for Jesus to come back quickly, yet will remain faithful until my time is complete. What do you wish for most in heaven? Seeing Jesus face to face; fellowshipping with all the saints; meeting people from time past; oh to think and meditate on the goal instead of the obsticles. To be heaven-minded and focused on the path God has laid out for each of us. To know that every trial that Jesus is walking us through will have a purpose and in the end we all have hope in Him; what a wonderful reminder. What a wonderful focus. So if you are in the middle of the madness of life, take a moment today to remember that Jesus is with you and “It shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Acts 2:21). God is the Alpha and the Omega: The beginning and The end. We don’t have to worry about what’s going on because the end is written and Jesus has overcome! -Heather “For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:8 NKJV I thought it would be fun to share a quote/poem called "The Tapestry" frequently quoted by Corrie Ten Boom that I have come back to over the years. Hope you enjoy!
- Heather "My Life is but a weaving Between my God and me. I cannot choose the colors He weaveth steadily. Oft’ times He weaveth sorrow; And I in foolish pride Forget He sees the upper And I the underside. Not ’til the loom is silent And the shuttles cease to fly Will God unroll the canvas And reveal the reason why. The dark threads are as needful In the weaver’s skillful hand As the threads of gold and silver In the pattern He has planned He knows, He loves, He cares; Nothing this truth can dim. He gives the very best to those Who leave the choice to Him." Hi Everyone!
We can now officially say we leave next month! It still seems surreal that we will be flying to Australia so soon (June 23rd). Eventually it will sink in. This is final month of preparation is going to fly by. My thoughts lately have been filled with “what do we have left to do?.” Trying to get it all done is intense. Ever feel like life is getting a little too much and honestly just one a take a minute and say “I’m overwhelmed!” ? I have. I have battled with trying to get it all done and get it all right and frankly this week I had to be honest with myself and say that I can’t. I’m not going to get it all, I am going to miss something, this move will not be perfect like I truly wish it to be. Life is hard; life can be messy; life is a blessing. No matter what life is for you right now we can all say “God is GOOD.” God is good in the difficult; God is good even when it’s messy; God is good all the time. One of the lines of a song I recently heard was "When I trust You [God], I don't need to understand." I can rest in the truth found in Jeremiah 29:11 that God has a future and a hope for us. I can rest in the truth found in Romans 8:28 that when I am called and follow God, God will take care of the details and is in control. I have to take a step back and remember what to live for. Not the perfectionism in my head. Not for the people around me. But for God. I need to remember that planning and preparing is good, but the end goal, the main goal is to serve a powerful and loving God. So in the crazy and in the mess God is good and I can trust Him through it all. "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11 "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28 - Heather i cannot believe we are getting so close to actually leaving Texas. It is such a bittersweet thought to be going on an such a cool adventure but also having to leave all the amazing people I have met on this adventure in Texas. Looking back, God has truly blessed me here in Texas.
- Heather “Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” ~ Proverbs 16:3 NIV “For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body— whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. For in fact the body is not one member but many.” I Corinthians 12:12-14 NKJV . Hi Everyone!
Well November just flew by. As I’m sitting next to a Christmas tree with sparkling lights, I’m reminded of all I am thankful for this season. I am so thankful God brought us to Amarillo. A place with a lot of firsts for me: my first apartment, first “real” job, first car, first time driving in snow (I hate the ice), ect. The most amazing thing to me was the first church besides the one I grew up in. I am so thankful for the family I found at Grace church here in Amarillo. Moving to a new place and starting an adventure is not easy. I never realized how much I took my home church for granted. A place where I could walk in and see people I know, most of them knew me my whole life. Church is my safe place. It’s not perfect but I love it. I will be forever grateful that I found that same home here in the middle of the panhandle in Texas. As I sit here and think about leaving in roughly six months, it is bittersweet. I am so thankful that God’s family is global. Whether I’m home in California or here in Texas or traveling to Australia, I can’t wait to meet the family of God. And I know that’s what Heaven will be like. A big family reunion. And for that I am grateful. Hope you had an amazing Thanksgiving and that your Christmas is full of Christ. -Heather Hello Everyone!
